The Ohio State Reformatory

Constructed in 1886, the Ohio State Reformatory, more commonly known as the Mansfield Reformatory or Shawshank Prison (if you're a movie buff), is one of THE most haunted places in Ohio. The Librarians give you the nitty-gritty on the history, haunts, and Hollywood of this gothic-style tourist destination.

Murder For Hire in Ohio

The Librarians return with a true crime tale from the banks of Lake Erie itself:
In June of 2011, Eastlake police received a tip from a local man claiming he had just been solicited in a murder-for-hire plot. What would unfold sounds more like the plot of a Judd Apatow movie than something that could happen in a Northeast Ohio suburb. 
 
This episode features:
Beth and Britta decide who will win in a fight against a gator; Beth has beef with bull sharks; reminiscing about Rax Roast Beef,and big Golden Retriever/Black Cat energy.

The S. S. Kresge Fireworks Explosion

What do KMart, fireworks, and Cleveland all have in common? That would be the tragedy of the S.S. Kresge Fireworks Explosion in 1908. Join the librarians for a tragic play-by-play of the fateful pre-holiday celebration that resulted in seven deaths, mass chaos, and building destruction, all due to something that was deemed as a harmless display. This ain’t no blue light special! Beth and Britta give Ohio a PSA on fireworks etiquette, there’s beef with Mary and her 20 dollars, and Britta does some math on the unfathomable dollar amount of fireworks kept at the store.

"An Evening of Blatant Stupidity"- 10 Cent Beer Night

On June 4th, 1974, The Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) offered the promotional 10 Cent Beer night in an attempt to draw crowds amongst dwindling attendance at games. 
50 years later, the Librarians give you the play-by-play on the chaos that culminated over 9 innings, the rivalry that led to a riot, and the lasting legacy in sports history.
